So perlmonger fitted the new security beam things yesterday, and then when I was in the bath I heard the warning chime go. I called him and got no reply, so I assumed it was him.

But when I went downstairs, they'd taken the laptops and the Wii and the remotes and the cameras and all the DVDs, I ran down the end of the garden and saw one of them running through the field, so I photographed her.

Then I went to find the village bobby* at Angela's house - they've moved to the other side of the road. They had no glass in their front door, and were having some sort of lunch party with the guests sat on rows of chairs like a lecture. David took me into the kitchen and told me not to make a fuss, and that the insurance would pay. The policewoman wasn't there.

* That's a giveaway, isn't it?

1 hour 48 minutes last night, and my shoulder hurts this morning. Pushed my skill level up to 584, so pleased with that. Took my fitness age down to 74 (soon it'll be younger than I am), and ow I think I understand how that works I can get it down quicker, I think.

In other news, one of our sites has been - literally - Slashdotted, so there'll be an anxious day ahead while we watch that server carefully. Hits Tuesday, 33608, hits Wednesday 679595, first two hours of Thursday, 201772. Fun fun fun.

I ordered a Wii Fit - I subscribed to a notification site, and put an order in with game.co.uk on Friday afternoon, at about 4 p.m.

Looking at the site later that evening, I was disappointed that it hadn't been shipped, but thought perhaps I was just too late for the cut off.

The site is currently telling me:

06/05/2008 09:24:26	Your order is currently being picked and packed.
06/05/2008 07:20:20	Your credit/ debit card has been authorised and your order is now being released for packing.
Funds will not be debited until your order is shipped.

So it has apparently been stuck in packing since yesterday morning. And they lie - they debited the card on Friday afternoon. Last night I sent them an e-mail thus:

Wii Fit - order placed

I placed an order - your reference xxxx/x - via your web site on 2 May 2008, last Friday.

At time of writing, this item is still showing that it is waiting to be packed. Despite your best assurances on the site that money will not be debited before the goods are shipped, the money was taken from our account on 2nd May.

This really is unacceptable. Please confirm by lunchtime tomorrow whether you do in fact have stock of this item for shipment, and if so when I can expect it, or I shall instigate a chargeback from our bank.

This is very shabby practice - I'm not amused.

Of course I've had no response, and I don't know what to do next.

Anyone ever dealt with this company? Are they normally this rubbish?

Did 1 hr 7 minutes on Wii Sports Tennis last night - huge fun, and raised my expert level from 8 to 268.

Those of you who know me might be astonished to know that I used to play tennis at County level when I was a gel, and this game is really not at all bad in terms of strokes and game play.

I also did the Fitness Test thing, which told me I was 80. Oh dear ...

We got the Wii on Friday night. And then on Saturday we got another controller, and a charging station, and Winter Sports 2008. We played with it quite a lot, so on Sunday we went out and got another Nunchuck so we could do split screen slaloming.

My word, but perlmonger and I are crap at it! But we shall persevere. We did this all yesterday afternoon, and then went out to the pub quiz, which we didn't win. No change there.

My shoulders ached this morning, as did my legs a little bit. But still, we sallied forth to the North Somerset Show - walked there and back, a round trip of about 5 miles, and then 3 hours or so around the show. Quite enjoyable, but the weather was horridly humid. I bought a hemp hat for six quid, and perlmonger purchased another wooden spoon, for verily 10 cannot be enough for any household.

Cooking was non-existent, mostly - we've been eating out of the freezer to make some room. Sossidges Saturday, and a rather splendid upside down pear pudding, Sunday night was home made kofta meatballs, and chick peas with spinach, and tonight is chicken and chorizo with chickpeas, and couscous. Nice having home made convenience food :)

Been awake since about 2 a.m. Have now given up, got up and made tea.

To while away the time, over the past couple of hours, I have (in my head):

Drafted an e-mail to a client explaining why I think we would be better to move them to WordPress

Tried to work out how we manage the impending web server moves

Written about three draft postings for Photocena

Done the next few months' cashflow

Pondered further about buying a Wii and a Wii Fit - gonna do it

Started planning a menu for Come Dine with Me, which I might just apply to do

Now the bloody birds are making a racket, and I fear sleep will continue to elude me :(

In preparation for some major changes to my own web site (when I get time, ho ho), I'm importing our book catalogue here into Shelfari.

We have a perfectly serviceable system here what I wrote in ColdFusion, that looks up Amazon's web service and grabs all the details from the ISBN number, but that won't do what I want.

So I output a text file, and uploaded it to Shelfari, and it gaily processed it, and then threw away hundreds of ISBNs, which I am having to do manually - slow and tedious.

*Anyway* - the point of this is that you will find me on Shelfari as (no surprise) ramtops, so if you would like to friend me or whatever they do there, that would be vair nice.

Please note we only have about 1600 books, which I suspect is a very small number to some of you. But we do love and cherish them all.
